Mission

The Allen Civic Ballet is a 501(c)3 non-profit dance company established in 1999 by five dancers who were studying under Nathalie Krassovska, Prima Ballerina of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and London Festival Ballet.

The Ballet seeks to offer high quality, affordable and enjoyable dance performances in Allen, while providing valuable experience to those considering a career in the profession.  The company is open by audition to all dancers ages 12-21 and offers local dancers advanced and pre-professional level:

  • The opportunity to take Master Classes with internationally recognized dancers.
  • The chance to work with established, professional choreographers.
  • Numerous performance opportunities, including performances to live music.
  • The experience of working within the community to share and promote the art of dance.

Our season begins with the “Nutcracker” ballet each December, with live musical accompaniment provided by the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra.

Our Spring season consists of an extensive number of performances in and around the Allen area, including “Pirouettes for Pets,” a free dance concert, in conjunction with the Allen Animal Shelter, highlighting the needs of animals in the area.

Our season comes to a close with “Bravo!” an exciting evening of classical and contemporary dance.

The Allen Civic Ballet is a proud member of the Allen Arts Alliance.

Dance provides an exceptional foundation for physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development. By blending structured athletic training with creative movement, dance helps build essential life skills that go far beyond the studio walls.

Physical Development

  • Total-body conditioning: Combines cardiovascular health, muscle strength, and endurance training.
  • Enhanced coordination: Builds superior spatial awareness, balance, and fine motor skills.
  • Posture and alignment: Strengthens core muscle groups to encourage healthy daily sitting and standing habits.
  • Bone Health: Stimulates skeletal growth and bone density through safe, weight-bearing impact.

Cognitive and Academic Growth

  • Memory retention: Requires kids to memorize complex choreography, step sequences, and transitions.
  • Pattern recognition: Introduces rhythm and time-counting, which directly reinforces mathematical learning and problem-solving.
  • Executive functioning: Challenges the brain to multitask by tracking music, physical technique, and spatial positioning simultaneously.
  • Focus and attention: Teaches children how to listen carefully, process multi-step instructions, and apply teacher corrections.

Social and Emotional Well-being

  • Healthy emotional outlet: Offers a constructive, physical release for pent-up energy, stress, and anxiety.
  • Teamwork and connection: Encourages peer collaboration, shared group goals, and deep mutual trust.
  • Confidence under pressure: Fosters high self-esteem through performance opportunities and conquering difficult physical skills.
  • Discipline and work ethic: Instills an early understanding of dedication, goal-setting, patience, and the value of long-term practice.
