Join the Allen Civic Ballet presents Bravo! 2024 an evening of classical and contemporary Dance on May 25^th at 6:00 pm in the Lowery Center Auditorium.

This performance features the Allen Civic Ballet dancers with original choreography by Anais Chalendard, Brynt Beitman, and Leonardo Acioli. The Allen Conservatory of Dance Students will be performing excerpts from “The Tsar Maiden.” This family friendly event will be a highlight to your holiday weekend this year so bring your friends and family and support your local dance arts.

Featured Guest Artist:

Stephanie Rae Williams is proud to be dancing in her hometown of Allen, Texas! She began her training at Dallas Dance Academy with Lyndette Galen and Fiona Fairrie. She is currently in her thirteenth season with the Dance Theatre of Harlem. She has danced with The Francesca Harper Project, ARC Dance Seattle, Complexions Contemporary Dance Company, Ballet Black, and Texas Ballet Theatre, where she made her professional debut. Repertoire includes works by Pam Tanowitz, Nacho Duato, Jose Limon, Helen Pickett, Arthur Mitchell, Donald Byrd, George Balanchine, John Alleyne, Dianne McIntyre, Darrel Grand Moultrie, Francesca Harper, Liam Scarlett, Robert Garland, and David Fernandez. She trained summers at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Springboard Danse Montreal, The Juilliard School, Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet, and Houston Ballet Academy. Ms. Williams received the 2017 Natalie Skelton Award for Artistic Excellence, was featured in Dance Magazine’s “On the Rise” in the August 2013 edition, and she was a Oprah Winfrey Fellowship recipient at the Ailey School, a 2006 National Foundation for the Arts Award Winner, a 2006 Youth America Grand Prix Finalist, and a 2004 Texas Commission on the Arts Young Master. She is currently on the faculty of the Dance Theatre Harlem School, Ballet Academy East, and has taught masterclasses all around the world.

ACB Company Auditions

The Allen Civic Ballet is pleased to announce that it will be holding company auditions for the 2024-2025 season on June 1, 2024 beginning at 9:00am.  Auditions will be held at the Allen Conservatory of Dance studio, 602 E. The Allen Civic Ballet is a 501(c)3 non-profit dance company established in 1999 by five dancers who were studying under Nathalie Krassovska, Prima Ballerina of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and London Festival Ballet.

The Ballet seeks to offer high quality, affordable and enjoyable dance performances in Allen, while providing valuable experience to those considering a career in the profession.  The company is open by audition to all dancers ages 12-21 and offers local dancers advanced, pre-professional level:

• The opportunity to take Master Classes with internationally recognized dancers.
• The chance to work with established, professional choreographers.
• Numerous performance opportunities, including performances to live music.
• The experience of working within the community to share and promote the art of dance.

Our season

Beginning with the “Nutcracker” ballet each December, with live musical accompaniment provided by the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra.

Our Spring season consists of an extensive number of performances in and around the Allen area, including “Pirouettes for Pets,” a free dance concert, in conjunction with Allen Animal Shelter, highlighting the needs of animals in the area.

Our season comes to a close with “Bravo!” an exciting evening of classical and contemporary dance.

Pirouettes for Pets is a free fundraising performance by the Allen Civic Ballet Company Dancers for the community. The dancers will perform excerpts from famous ballets along with original, contemporary dance pieces choreographed by local artists.

Our goals are to fundraise and collect much needed pet care items, raise awareness of the needs in our local community and help educate about the services provided by our local animal shelter.  Help us collect items from their wish list below and drop off at the performance or at 602 E. The Allen Civic Ballet invites you into the Snow Queen’s Winter Wonderland for Tea with the Sugar Plum Fairy. Sip tea or lemonade and nibble on treats from Mother Ginger’s kitchen as the Gingerbread Chefs toil away. Mother Ginger brings imagination to life as she tells the story of the “Nutcracker” for you at this special event. Characters from the Nutcracker Ballet will be in attendance for meet and greet with the guests. Clara and Fritz have a cozy sofa by their Christmas tree to visit with guests, the Sugar Plum Fairy will graciously share a seat on her throne, and you can sit with the Snow Queen in her beautiful sleigh amongst the magical winter forest trees.

Allen Drive.  The Allen Animal Shelter will be on hand with adorable and adoptable animals.  The concert will feature excerpts from the ballets “Paquita,” “Raymonda,”and “The Sleeping Beauty,” along with original, contemporary works.  The show will conclude with a “Match the Ballerina to their Pet” contest, with a winner receiving a prize. Congratulations to the Allen Civic Ballet dancers for their recent participation in our annual Krassovska Variation Workshop. Special thanks to the group of former Krassovska dancers for lending their expertise to this event and to Miss Melian Guantt who taught the opening master class.

Mia Heath, who danced Sugar Plum Fairy Variation and Paquita Etoile, was awarded the Nathalie Krassovska Legacy Award in recognition of her achievements in the art of classical ballet.

Phoebe Allbright, who danced a variation from Raymonda and Talisman, and Taverly Cox, who danced Dulcinea and Medora Act 3, were awarded the Catharina Moudy Spirit of Dance Award in recognition of their achievements in the art of classical ballet.
