Pirouettes for Pets Fundraising Performance

Pirouettes for Pets is a free fundraising performance by the Allen Civic Ballet Company Dancers for the community. The dancers will perform excerpts from famous ballets along with original, contemporary dance pieces choreographed by local artists.

Our goals are to fundraise and collect much needed pet care items, raise awareness of the needs in our local community and help educate about the services provided by our local animal shelter.  Help us collect items from their wish list below and drop off at the performance or at 602 E. Main St, suite E Allen, Tx 75002.

Join Us For Our Annual Fundraiser Event

 

The Allen Civic Ballet invites you into the Snow Queen’s Winter Wonderland for Tea with the Sugar Plum Fairy. Sip tea or lemonade and nibble on treats from Mother Ginger’s kitchen as the Gingerbread Chefs toil away. Mother Ginger brings imagination to life as she tells the story of the “Nutcracker” for you at this special event. Characters from the Nutcracker Ballet will be in attendance for meet and greet with the guests. Clara and Fritz have a cozy sofa by their Christmas tree to visit with guests, the Sugar Plum Fairy will graciously share a seat on her throne, and you can sit with the Snow Queen in her beautiful sleigh amongst the magical winter forest trees.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. Children ages 0-2 years may attend for free, provided they remain on your lap and do not require their own plate. However, you must purchase a ticket for them if they need their own seat and their own plate.

2023 Nutcracker Auditions

The Allen Civic Ballet invites dancers ages 5 and up to audition for a variety of roles for our 2023 Nutcracker performances presented at the Performing Arts Center at Allen High School in December. This is a professional quality production with costumes, scenery, professional guest artists and a full, live orchestra.

Auditions will be held on August 5th & 12th at:

Who can Audition:
We are seeking dancers ages 5+ for a variety of roles –
Dancers Ages 5-8 12:00-2:00 pm

Dancers Ages 9+ 2:00-4:00 pm

Attire:
All female dancers should arrive in a solid color leotard, tights, and ballet slippers and males in athletic shorts or ballet leggings and white t-shirt and dance shoes.

Audition Results:
Dancers will be notified via email by August 26th. Please refrain from calling or emailing the Allen Civic Ballet and Allen Conservatory of Dance regarding audition results.

The Allen Civic Ballet invites you to an exciting evening of classical and contemporary dance at the Lowery Auditorium Center.

San Francisco Ballet Principal Dancer Tiit Helimets will return as a Guest Artist for “Bravo!” Tiit was born in Viljandi, Estonia and received his training at the Tallinn Ballet School.  He danced with the Estonian Ballet and the Birmingham Royal Ballet in England before accepting a position as Principal Dancer at the San Francisco Ballet. Tiit will partner Allen Civic Ballet dancer Mia Heath in a pas de deux from “La Bayadere.”  Mia has received a full scholarship to study at the prestigious Harid Conservatory.
When Tiit was 20 years old, he was dancing Romeo in Romeo and Juliet when he met his wife, who was dancing his Juliet.  Now their daughter takes the stage for the first time in Allen in the White Swan pas de deux from “Swan Lake” with her father.
It is so exciting to see this artist passing on his years of experience as a world class performer to the young dancers of tomorrow!
Also on the program will be the world premiere of “et la lumiere fut,” choreographed for the dancers of the Allen Civic Ballet by Anais Chalendard, former Principal Dancer of the English National Ballet and Boston Ballet.

Pirouettes for Pets 2023

 

The Allen Civic Ballet will present its annual, “Pirouettes for Pets,” a free dance performance on Saturday, March 25th at 3:00 p.m. in the Allen Civic Auditorium at the Allen Public Library on 300 N. Allen Drive.  The Allen Animal Shelter will be on hand with adorable and adoptable animals.  The concert will feature excerpts from the ballets “Paquita,” “Raymonda,”and “The Sleeping Beauty,” along with original, contemporary works.  The show will conclude with a “Match the Ballerina to their Pet” contest, with a winner receiving a prize. Did you know that the Allen Animal Shelter takes in several hundred animals every year?

To help them continue to feed animals in need and offer crucial veterinary care, the Allen Civic Ballet wants to help raise awareness and collect donations.

The Allen Civic Ballet is providing a free performance of classical and contemporary dance on March 25th, 2023 at 3:00pm where there will be adorable, adoptable pets available as well as a donation drop off sight for new and gently

 

used items.

If you are unable to attend, we will be collecting items at our studio located at 602 E Main St, Suite E. Allen, Tx 75002 now through April 1st.

 

With the support of the community members like you, many animals have been able to receive the medical care they need and to find their forever homes. Thank you!

2023 Krassovska Variations Workshop

Congratulations to the Allen Civic Ballet dancers for their recent participation in our annual Krassovska Variation Workshop. Special thanks to the group of former Krassovska dancers for lending their expertise to this event and to Miss Melian Guantt who taught the opening master class.

Mia Heath, who danced Sugar Plum Fairy Variation and Paquita Etoile, was awarded the Nathalie Krassovska Legacy Award in recognition of her achievements in the art of classical ballet.

Phoebe Allbright, who danced a variation from Raymonda and Talisman, and Taverly Cox, who danced Dulcinea and Medora Act 3, were awarded the Catharina Moudy Spirit of Dance Award in recognition of their achievements in the art of classical ballet.

Tiit Helimets Will Be a Guest Artist in the Allen Civic Ballet’s Production of THE NUTCRACKER

The performances are on 17 and 18 December.

        

TIIT HELIMETS, principal dancer of the San Francisco Ballet, will appear as a guest artist in the Allen Civic Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker, at the Performing Arts Center at Allen High School in Allen, Texas on December 17 (Evening) and 18 (Matinee), 2022.

Tiit Helimets was born in Viljandi, Estonia and received his ballet training at the Tallinn Ballet School.

In 1996 Mr. Helimets joined the Estonian National Ballet as a soloist, and was appointed a principal dancer, within six months, that same year. Mr. Helimets’ repertoire included Prince Desire and Bluebird in The Sleeping Beauty, Albrecht in Giselle, Siegfried in Swan Lake, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, and Daphnis in Daphnis and Chloe.

Mr. Helimets has also danced roles in ballets by contemporary choreographers including the title role in George Balanchine’s Apollo, principal roles in George Balanchine’s Western Symphony, Ashton’s Voices of Spring, Dante Sonata, Enigma Variations, The Walk to the Paradise Garden, Scenes de Ballet, Bintley’s Carmina Burana, Flowers of the Forest, Concert Fantasy, Les Petits Riens, and Sons of Horus, Twyla Tharp’s In The Upper Room, Kenneth MacMillan’s Elite Syncopations, John Cranko’s Brouillards, Michael Kopinski’s Saturn from The Planets, Hans van Manen’s Five Tangos, and Stanton Welch’s Powder. He also created Summer in Bintley’s The Seasons, and a principal role in Nahid Siddiqui’s Krishna.

In 2005 Mr. Helimets joined the San Francisco Ballet as a principal dancer. In 2008 Mr. Helimets appeared as a guest artist with the National Ballet of Canada dancing one of the principal roles in George Balanchine’s Symphony in C, and in 2010 Mr. Helimets appeared as a guest artist with Ballet San Jose dancing the role of Albrecht in Giselle. In 2012 Mr. Helimets appeared as a guest artist with the Hamburg Ballet dancing the role of the Prince in John Neumeier’s The Little Mermaid.

He also performed in the International Ballet Star Gala in Taipei, and danced the title role in Balanchine’s Apollo as a guest artist with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

In 2018 Mr. Helimets choreographed a ballet for the Estonian National Ballet.
