Intensives and Master Classes

We kicked off the summer with Junior and Senior Intensives and master classes from: Anais Chalendard, former Principal Dancer of English National Ballet and Boston Ballet, Melian Gauntt from Premier Ballet, and Stephanie Rae Williams from Dance Theater of Harlem.

Our students took classes in classical and contemporary ballet, variations, pantomime, character, modern, contemporary, jazz and salsa.

Camps

Princess camp was a huge favorite of some adorable, tiny dancers of all ages, who are dreaming of one day performing on stage. But who can pick a favorite ballet Princess? Who would you pick Cinderella, Odette or Aurora?

Nutcracker Dance Camp gets everyone in the mood to see the magic of the Nutcracker Ballet come to life: and to kick it all off, we are announcing our Nutcracker audition dates August 7th and 14th! The Allen Civic Ballet invites all those interested and willing to audition for our community cast to perform on December 18th & 19th, with live music provided by Allen Philharmonic Orchestra. ACB 2021 Annual Krassovska Variations Awards

The Allen Civic Ballet holds an annual variations workshop in memorial of Madame Nathalie Krassovska.

Madame Krassovska was born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) in 1919. In 1936, Madame Krassovska joined Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and quickly attained the rank of Prima Ballerina. She went on to become Prima Ballerina with the London Festival Ballet from 1950-1960, and founded the Krassovska Ballet Jeunesse in Dallas in 1963, to pass the art of classical ballet to the next generations. She served as the Artistic Advisor to the Allen Civic Ballet from its inception in 1999 until her death in 2005.

In recognition of outstanding achievement in the technique and artistry of classical ballet we present the

Nathalie Krassovska Legacy Award to Taverly Cox.

Catharina Moudy was a founding member of our board until her death in 2005, and our very first Sugar Plum Fairy in Allen Civic Ballet’s first Nutcracker in 1999.

In recognition of outstanding achievement in the technique and artistry of classical ballet we present the

Catharina Moudy Spirit of Dance Award to

Ynez Conklin and Mia Heath.

Brynt Beitman danced and partnered with all of the founding board members and was our first Sugar Plum Cavalier until he left to study at Juilliard on full scholarship. After graduation he has worked as a dancer and choreographer in NYC. He has choreographed numerous original contemporary works for the Allen Civic Ballet.

In recognition of outstanding achievement in the technique and artistry of contemporary ballet we present the

Brynt Beitman Award to

Selena Lin and Anna Vieger.

Happy New Year!

Greetings Allen Civic Ballet Families and Supporters

As 2020 FINALLY comes to a close, we want to take a minute to thank all of you for the remarkable support you have shown the Conservatory during the past year. Your encouragement has made so many seemingly impossible things possible — our Spring Recital, a live stream “Pirouettes for Pets” fundraiser benefiting the Allen Animal Shelter, numerous Master Classes from professional dancers, Tea with the Sugar Plum Fairy, and miraculously, three LIVE performances of the Nutcracker ballet at the Allen Performing Arts Theater. And all while socially distancing, sanitizing, mask wearing and temperature taking. Whew! Give yourselves a big round of applause!

We have high hopes for 2021. Classes resume on January 4th, both in person and via Zoom.

Happy New Year!

From All of Us at the Allen Conservatory of Dance
