Tiit Helimets Will Be a Guest Artist in the Allen Civic Ballet’s Production of THE NUTCRACKER

The performances are on 17 and 18 December.

        

TIIT HELIMETS, principal dancer of the San Francisco Ballet, will appear as a guest artist in the Allen Civic Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker, at the Performing Arts Center at Allen High School in Allen, Texas on December 17 (Evening) and 18 (Matinee), 2022.

Tiit Helimets was born in Viljandi, Estonia and received his ballet training at the Tallinn Ballet School.

In 1996 Mr. Helimets joined the Estonian National Ballet as a soloist, and was appointed a principal dancer, within six months, that same year. Mr. Helimets’ repertoire included Prince Desire and Bluebird in The Sleeping Beauty, Albrecht in Giselle, Siegfried in Swan Lake, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, and Daphnis in Daphnis and Chloe.

Mr. Helimets has also danced roles in ballets by contemporary choreographers including the title role in George Balanchine’s Apollo, principal roles in George Balanchine’s Western Symphony, Ashton’s Voices of Spring, Dante Sonata, Enigma Variations, The Walk to the Paradise Garden, Scenes de Ballet, Bintley’s Carmina Burana, Flowers of the Forest, Concert Fantasy, Les Petits Riens, and Sons of Horus, Twyla Tharp’s In The Upper Room, Kenneth MacMillan’s Elite Syncopations, John Cranko’s Brouillards, Michael Kopinski’s Saturn from The Planets, Hans van Manen’s Five Tangos, and Stanton Welch’s Powder. He also created Summer in Bintley’s The Seasons, and a principal role in Nahid Siddiqui’s Krishna.

In 2005 Mr. Helimets joined the San Francisco Ballet as a principal dancer. Mr. Helimets has expanded his repertoire to include Prince Siegfried and Von Rothbart in Helgi Tomasson’s production of Swan Lake, the King of the Snow and Grand Pas de Deux in Tomasson’s production of The Nutcracker, the Prince in Tomasson’s production of The Sleeping Beauty, Basilio in the Helgi Tomasson/Yuri Possokhov production of Don Quixote, the Prince in Yuri Possokhov’s Firebird, the Tortoise in Tomasson’s Chi-Lin, the Lilac/Prince in Julia Adam’s A Rose By Any Other Name, the Prince and Poet in John Neumeier’s The Little Mermaid, the Prince in Christopher Wheeldon’s Cinderella, Vershinin in Kenneth MacMillan’s Winter Dreams, Jean de Brienne in Rudolf Nureyev’s production of Raymonda Act III, Prince Gremin in John Cranko’s Onegin, Mr. Braddock in Cathy Marston’s Mrs. Robinson, the Summer Section of Christopher Wheeldon’s Quarternary, principal roles in Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante, Symphony in C (Second Movement), the Diamonds Act of Jewels, Stravinsky Violin Concerto, Serenade, The Four Temperaments, Scotch Symphony, Agon, Brahms-Schoenberg Quartet, and Divertimento No. 15, David Bintley’s The Dance House, William Forsythe’s In The Middle, Somewhat Elevated, Wayne McGregor’s Eden/Eden, Chroma, and Borderlands, Serge Lifar’s Suite en Blanc, Stanton Welch’s Falling and Naked, Julia Adam’s Night, Tomasson’s On Common Ground, 7 For Eight, Prism, On A Theme of Paganini, and Caprice, Matjash Mrozewski’s Concordia, Possokhov’s Magrittomania and Swimmer, Jerome Robbins’ In The Night, and Glass Pieces, Alexei Ratmansky’s Russian Seasons, Symphony No. 9, Seven Sonatas, and Piano Concerto No. 1, Frederick Ashton’s Symphonic Variations, Jiri Bubenicek’s Gentle Memories, Harald Lander’s Etudes, and created roles in Tomasson’s The Fifth Season and Trio, Val Caniparoli’s Ibsen’s House, Double Stop. In 1999 Mr. Helimets received an award from the Arts Council of Estonia for his performances in The Sleeping Beauty and Romeo and Juliet.

In 2008 Mr. Helimets appeared as a guest artist with the National Ballet of Canada dancing one of the principal roles in George Balanchine’s Symphony in C, and in 2010 Mr. Helimets appeared as a guest artist with Ballet San Jose dancing the role of Albrecht in Giselle. In 2012 Mr. Helimets appeared as a guest artist with the Hamburg Ballet dancing the role of the Prince in John Neumeier’s The Little Mermaid.

He also performed in the International Ballet Star Gala in Taipei, and danced the title role in Balanchine’s Apollo as a guest artist with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

In 2018 Mr. Helimets choreographed a ballet for the Estonian National Ballet.

ACB 2021 Annual Krassovska Variations Awards

The Allen Civic Ballet holds an annual variations workshop in memorial of Madame Nathalie Krassovska.

Madame Krassovska was born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) in 1919. In 1936, Madame Krassovska joined Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and quickly attained the rank of Prima Ballerina. She went on to become Prima Ballerina with the London Festival Ballet from 1950-1960, and founded the Krassovska Ballet Jeunesse in Dallas in 1963, to pass the art of classical ballet to the next generations. She served as the Artistic Advisor to the Allen Civic Ballet from its inception in 1999 until her death in 2005.

In recognition of outstanding achievement in the technique and artistry of classical ballet we present the

Nathalie Krassovska Legacy Award to Taverly Cox.

Catharina Moudy was a founding member of our board until her death in 2005, and our very first Sugar Plum Fairy in Allen Civic Ballet’s first Nutcracker in 1999.

In recognition of outstanding achievement in the technique and artistry of classical ballet we present the

Catharina Moudy Spirit of Dance Award to

Ynez Conklin and Mia Heath.

Brynt Beitman danced and partnered with all of the founding board members and was our first Sugar Plum Cavalier until he left to study at Juilliard on full scholarship. After graduation he has worked as a dancer and choreographer in NYC. He has choreographed numerous original contemporary works for the Allen Civic Ballet.

In recognition of outstanding achievement in the technique and artistry of contemporary ballet we present the

Brynt Beitman Award to

Selena Lin and Anna Vieger.

TEA WITH THE SUGAR PLUM FAIRY

Our “Tea with the Sugar Plum Fairy” is the perfect event to take your daughter or granddaughter to! We welcome our guests into the Snow Queen’s Kingdom and serve tea, lemonade and treats, while (masked) characters from the ballet visit each table. Mother Ginger tells the story of the “Nutcracker” with the help of the characters. Guests over the age of 10 must wear a mask. Our seating is designed to socially distance our guests. The Tea will be held December 6th at the Hilton Garden Inn Allen, located at 705 Central Expy S, Allen, TX 75013. What holiday season would be complete without the Nutcracker ballet? Don’t miss the magic, drama, and excitement of this holiday classic in this live stage production. Due to social distancing measures, seating is extremely limited, so get your tickets soon! Allen Civic Ballet presents “Nutcracker” on December 19th & 20th. Tea with a Sugar Plum Fairy

Guests are welcomed into the Snow Queen’s Kingdom as The Nutcracker comes to life through a combination of dancing and storytelling. All of your favorite characters are available to visit your table or meet with you in socially distanced settings.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. For toddler’s aged 1-2 you must purchase a ticket for them if they receive their own plate and their own seat, but if they sit in your lap and eat off your plate they do not need a ticket of their own.

  • This year we will only have tables for five (down from 10 in previous years).

  • There will be 6 feet of distance between tables.

  • All guests over the age of 10 must wear face masks when not eating or drinking.

  • At check-in, each member of your party will have their temperature taken.

  • We have reserved tables 3, 12, and 25 for those who do not want the Nutcracker Characters to visit their table.

  • The only way to guarantee that you won’t share a table with people not in your party is to buy all the seats at your table, or go with a friend.

  • Our meet and greets will have lines marked at 6 foot intervals. All Nutcracker Characters will be wearing masks.

  • This event is catered by the Hilton Garden Inn, All food preparers and wait staff are employees of the Hilton Garden Inn. Please visit their website for their most current Covid-19 practices.

  • Tea Reservations are not refundable and non-exchangeable. However,they are transferable. Please email us at allencivicballetevents@gmail.com no later than 5 pm the night before, and include the name of the party that will be taking your reservation.
